Entrepreneurial Discipline

The success of any company depends entirely on one and only one thing and that is ‘discipline’ and that discipline starts from the core leadership of that company.

With discipline, everything happens according to a set plan. If there is no planning, one can achieve success by chance, but it is not possible to achieve the same alchemy ongoingly.

Without discipline, winning can only be a matter of luck and no one believes in such a company. In the end everyone just want to get benefitted from whatever ventures that they get into. No one wants to get harmed in any manner then why would anyone put themselves in the pit, isn’t it?

Think about what you need to do to get the investment you need to grow your business, then you will realize the seriousness of what I am talking about.

Without financial discipline, we are often embarrassed by Banks loan rejection & moreover even the people known to us make sure to distance themselves & avoid lending even a small amount.

But if you are working in a disciplined manner, people will line up behind you, even if it is a loss in the present, considering the future benefits.

But if there is no discipline, the days or years you spend in the industry can merely be a luck than your charisma.
Things doesn’t go so simply that you felt like riding a horse & rode on it. Though horse is used for the very purpose but it does have nearly ten times strength compare to human beings so no one can ride on it as they pleases.

If someone is forced to ride, the horse can throw that man possibly few meters away but if he is loved and the feelings are matched, he will carry you on his back and take you wherever you want to go. And for you it will run with full strength like Chetak ran for Maharana Pratap; always at your service till the last breath.
Do you think, your business is different from riding a horse?

Off course there are no horses in the business but the living people very much like us, as well as our financial and mental investment.

Just as a horse needs to be pampered and hit with a stick at the right time, the business cannot prosper without some discipline. No matter how much hard working, skilled or knowledgeable you are, you can grow the business only to a certain extent on your own.

All of the above qualities are important, of course, but the most important is ‘discipline’ and that discipline must first be in the entrepreneur so that it can spread to subordinates or people in contact.

Rhythm comes only when we do something consistently in a disciplined manner.

Doing it only once or whenever you feel like it is definitely not going to happen.
Discipline cannot be imposed in one day, but it requires constant practice. Otherwise you will exercise once a month and still complain that the enlarged stomach does not shrink.

It is very easy to complain but it is very tedious to do something in a disciplined manner continuously for years. Success is at the feet of those who continue to do this tedious task year after year.
Whether it is Tata-Birla or Ambani-Adani or even a small entrepreneur, they always have to do this tedious task to succeed.

Whether they like it or not, but if they want to achieve success not just once but forever, and much more than already accomplished then they have no choice but to work in a disciplined manner.

Just employing lot many people doesn’t makes a team but an unwanted expenditure for sure. Hiring only required number of people & utilizing their full potential is important. Also to create an environment which inspires them to work in a disciplined manner & to have ongoing training & support available to make it a culture.
We also know for sure that discipline is essential if we want to move forward in life and sustain the achievements we have achieved so far.

We know all this and this knowledge is not new to us, but...

Knowing this, how many people constantly work in a discipline?

Discipline Discipline Discipline, there is nothing else to life beyond that or what?
Why to play that tune all the time & who says we don't work in discipline?
Success and failure are the part of package of life, it’s a day to day phenomenon then why to bother?
And yes, discipline is only and exclusively for the subordinate workers and for rest of the world; certainly not for the entrepreneur.

Are we against discipline? Not at all, but the main reason for many people to get out of the job is that they didn't want to get stuck in any bondage and that's why they got into the business, didn't they?
Discipline sounds like restriction, kind of a bondage & what we want is complete freedom to do whatever we want.
What difference does it make if you don't do it on scheduled & do it later? Ultimately, entrepreneurs are the kings of their own sovereignty.

Yes, of course you are a king, but if you do whatever you want as you please then it doesn't take long for that king to lose his kingdom or become a namesake king under another emperor.

It takes long to spread our wings as vast as possible to become an emperor of the big empire & that’s get possible only with a disciplined journey right from the time you got into the business.

Go Back in time to check whatever success that you achieved every time, was it a result of doing things as per your convenience or you had big blows on that time for your wrong deeds, which made you worked with discipline & created the results that you wanted. But once again the same suit followed as soon as the desired results were achieved, isn’t it?

If life is not planned and hard work is not consistent then you will only get what you don't want.
Just having big dreams or just wandering around in imagination that I have already gotten what I wanted is not going to get you anywhere. You can’t achieve anything by just talking big. If that were the case then every day dreamer would have become a billionaire, wouldn't he?

Our problem is that we want everything right away without any planning.

As though success is desperately waiting to welcome us as soon as we enter into the business. That too without doing any work, so incredible isn’t it?

This may be true in the case of few people but in the case of the majority, no matter how familiar you are to your prospects and no matter how knowledgeable you are in the field or the experience of so many years in the same industry but still people will not dare to work with you unless you are stable after leaving the job. Because the experience of handling business is much different than working for somebody.

When you were working as an employee, someone was getting the job done from you & you were answerable the authorities so a discipline was maintained. But when you became an entrepreneur yourself it is a common-sense for the prospect customers to know your new working method and overall discipline.

In spite of being into business for so many years & still if some people are reluctant to give you a job, understand that they still do not trust you because they might not been able to see the necessary discipline in your working style.

You don't have to adapt to them every time; doing so would cost life to please everyone. There is only one thing that is needed, and that is to set goals and to discipline oneself accordingly.

No company can go far beyond by mere luck or manipulating people. Huge Success is possible only by setting a goal and immersing oneself in it in a disciplined manner.
