After enjoying the weekend thoroughly it’s so boring even to get out of the bed on Monday morning. It’s kind of a punishment of being forced to wake up for going to office on time, wishing you could just work for yourself instead.
Maybe tired of working hard & you imagine life without the boss. No racing to punch in on time. Monday and Sunday feeling the same. Freedom, fun, and financial success.
If those are your main reasons for wanting to start a business, stop right there. That mindset is the fastest way to fail.
I never got bored of going to work on Mondays. Since the age of 16, I’ve had the habit of showing up and doing the job without any procrastination, regardless of the day as all days have the same importance to me. And coincidentally, the day I opened my first business was a Monday, March 6, 1989, the auspicious day of Mahashivratri.
By the grace of God I got the opportunity to begin my business journey on the auspicious day of Mahashivratri but very frankly I chose that day as it was falling on Monday and unknowingly got blessed by Mahadev.
I wasn’t even 20 years old. I had no business experience, barely enough money to invest, and no safety net. It wasn’t blind hope that pushed me forward, but a deep belief in myself and the willingness to work harder than I’d ever worked before. I made up my mind that no matter what happened, there was no turning back.
And one more thing, honesty was, and still is, non-negotiable for me.
Faced many difficulties and hardships with a smile but did not cheated anyone even by mistake, maybe that is why I am still living happily with a broad smile on my face.
In the early days, I believed that if I was honest and good to people, the world would treat me the same. That belief didn’t last long. I learned quickly that not everyone plays fair.
But I didn’t let that change my values. I simply learned to deal in a way that no one could take advantage of me.
From the beginning, I wanted to reach for the sky while keeping my feet firmly on the ground. I knew that the moment arrogance enters your head, your downfall begins and the sweat and blood you have given by working hard to build your business, collapses in no time. After that no amount of intelligence can save you. Once you fall, it’s not easy to rise again but many vanish entirely. Some manage to survive somehow, but forgetting to live life.
Looking back on everything since I started working at 16 and running a business before 20, I can say I’ve been blessed with both success and respect. But none of it came easy. It is a journey of belief, discipline, systems, processes and a lot of hard work.
Some people wait until they’re past 40, with years of job experience and money in hand, before taking a “calculated” risk in business. Others jump in like they’re buying a lottery ticket.
But business isn’t a lottery. It’s more like the stock market; you succeed only if you put in full-time effort, invest properly, think long-term, and stay steady through ups and downs. Those who come in with the desire to make a lot of money when the market starts to go up usually rush out with whatever they are left with when the market starts to crash; Often at a loss.
When you’re in business, be ready to work 15–16 hours a day, often without pay for the first few years. Forget weekends. Forget fixed hours. Be prepared to work whenever the work demands it.
In the beginning, you might be a lone fighter, completely on your own. No team, no support, not even moral encouragement. There may not be anyone to help, or even to boost your morale in this phase until you succeed.
You may find people opposing your decisions but remember, not all criticism comes from enemies. Some of it is genuine concern. In fact, many people may be really caring about you. After all, not everyone can handle constant failure, so it's natural to have some concerns, and if there is no one has any sympathy for you then that can be a matter of serious concern for you personally.
Cherish the rare person who stands by you through it all. Without them, you might never reach where you are today.
If you dream of starting a business and becoming an entrepreneur, take measured risks & not the blind leaps But once you’ve set your goal and stepped into the arena, don’t run away at the first sign of trouble. Be it wrestling or a business, stepping back to strategize is fine. But no matter what happens you shouldn’t be running away from that arena at any cost.
Get into the field only if your mind is prepared and at the same time, you’ll only discover your real strength once you’re in the fight, not while sitting on the fence or in the audience.
In business, there’s no fun in sitting on the fence. The real adventure begins only when you step into the arena.
Again, business is not for those looking for an escape from Monday mornings or for people who run away from problems. It’s for those who dream big and are willing to give their all to turn those dreams into reality. If you’re not ready for that level of commitment, stick with what you’re comfortable doing and do it well. And whatever you do, don’t blow your lifetime earnings like fireworks.
